"One of the most remarkable theaters in the world". The Mabel Tainter Theater, Menomonie’s crown jewel and undeniable claim to fame.
Built in the 1890s by local lumber barons at the height of the Wisconsin logging era, the Mabel Tainter is internationally recognized as one of the finest preserved Victorian theaters in existence. From its ornate architecture and hand-crafted details to its unmatched acoustics and atmosphere, this is not just a theater, it’s a living piece of history.
Attending the Fly Fishing Film Tour here elevates the experience far beyond the typical venue. This is the kind of place you feel the moment you walk through the doors. It’s the coolest setting you’ll ever have the opportunity to watch these films period.
The evening also includes access to the Spirit Room, featuring a full bar and space to gather, socialize, and soak in the energy, and check out all of our awesome raffel prizes. Whether you’re a longtime fly angler or brand new to the sport, this night will be as memorable as the stories on screen.

The Films

The Light Beside Me
Danny Parra grew up on the shores of Magdalena Bay, where fishing was his passion and his father his best friend—until the day his father abandoned the family, leaving Danny to believe he wasn’t enough to make anyone stay. Forced to quit school and work as a sardinero, Danny survived by throwing himself into the sea, using fishing as both his livelihood and his shield.

Return of the Guide: Jurassic Lake
25 years ago, Luciano “Lucho” Alba pulled over on a dusty road in a remote corner of northern Patagonia to pick up Erik Argotti, a grungy gringo hitchhiker with rod tubes sprouting from his backpack. That split-second decision changed the course of both their lives. Return of the Guide describes how this chance meeting led them to explore the wild, windswept plains of southern Argentina. Together, they helped pioneer the fishery now known as Jurassic Lake, where rainbow trout grow to staggering size and a harsh beauty blooms in the cracks of volcanic stone.

Carried by the Current (The Jane Project)
The Jane Project follows Kara Armano from the Colorado riverbanks, where she leads a Casting for Recovery retreat for women with breast cancer, to Montana, where she meets with friends to bring home The Jane—a custom drift boat honoring women and resilience everywhere. Through laughter, shared stories, and the quiet rhythm of the river, the film celebrates connection and the universal healing we all feel on the water
